Not all jiu-jitsu academies are created equal. At Subconscious BJJ, we consider our students a part of the family. We also believe that jiu-jitsu isn’t just a sport — it’s a lifestyle. We nurture and strengthen the bonds of friendship at all our classes and training to create an unforgettable experience for any academy student. You’ll achieve levels of success you never knew were possible!
At Subconscious BJJ, you’ll learn in a safe and controlled environment, with professional coaching and staff. Our instructors are world-class and have proven their skills on the mat. Many of them compete and medal in some of the world’s most prestigious jiu-jitsu tournaments. Our founder and head instructor Brent Burniston received his black belt from legendary master Jean Jacques Machado.
Brent Burniston’s association with Jean Jacques Machado is probably best remembered by martial arts fans in the early 1990s when the now-infamous videotape showed Brent and three other black belts assisting a teenage Royce Gracie in his demonstration against five well-known martial art masters.
Nicolas Gregoriades is a South African grappler who is the first jiu-jitsu practitioner to be promoted to black belt by the most excellent grappler of all time, Roger Gracie. He is the author of two books on the art, The Black Belt Blueprint, and Beyond the Black Belt, and his popular instructional videos are known as some of the best on the market.
We want to bring like-minded people together by expanding our tribe – and yours. We are dedicated to supporting our association school owners and helping them grow as both martial artists and business owners. Competition isn’t our only focus, even though we train hard and give it our all on the mats. Instead, we’re committed to helping our students and instructors become the best human beings they can be both on and off the mats, and we do this by using jiu-jitsu as a vehicle.
