There are so many types of Martial Arts forms to choose from we would like to highlight what sets Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu apart from the others. Royce Gracie showed the world the effectiveness of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 1993 when he defeated multiple opponents in one night, again and again. He took little to no damage per fight even though his opponents were 20, 30, and in some cases 50 pounds heavier than himself. Most martial arts neglect that over 90% of fights go to the ground. There is no other martial art as effective at fighting in a clinch or on the ground as Jiu-Jitsu. Jiu-Jitsu has so much to offer. Let’s face it; real-life physical confrontations don’t begin with a “ready set go.” Often, an unsuspecting victim is grabbed on the shoulder, around the neck, or tackled to the ground before they even know what hit them. This is precisely where the Jiu-Jitsu practitioner is comfortable. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu prepares one for any attack, whether standing or on the ground.
