Jiu-Jitsu South Austin

Gabe Obiedo is a black belt under Relson Gracie. He has been doing Gracie Jiu-Jitsu since 2006 when a friend of his introduced him to martial art. He was looking for a new way to stay in shape, and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu offered that, and much more. Now he thinks of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu as a part of who he is and a way of life, and he loves the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits that come with it.

Gabe follows in the Relson Gracie tradition of promoting and emphasizing self-defense. He loves teaching self-defense because he can share something positive and beneficial with others while at the same time learning and growing in martial art. And perhaps his favorite part of Gracie Jiu-jitsu is the camaraderie he has off and on the mats with his training partners at Relson Gracie South Austin.

Gabe was present for Relson Gracie’s red belt promotion in Hawaii in 2013 and has trained at numerous Relson Hawaii locations and Gracie Jiu-jitsu New York, Relson Gracie St. Augustine with Phil Cardella, and with Fabio Santos. In 2014, Gabe was part of a team of instructors who taught a Gracie Jiu-jitsu training camp in Varna, Bulgaria.

Gabe is a professional firefighter with the Pflugerville Fire Department and two little girls’ father, and he is excited about getting them started in jiu-jitsu, too.
